James Henry Garrett, Jr, 81, of Cornwall, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Hershey Medical Center. He was born in Lebanon on March 1, 1937, son of the late James Henry Garrett, Sr. and Grace Donough Garrett.
Jim was a music teacher in the Cornwall Lebanon School District where he taught for 38 years. He also was a choir master in numerous churches. Jim was an active member of Hope Episcopal Church, Manheim. He served for 16 years on the Cornwall Lebanon School District Board. Jim also was choral director of the Senior Singers. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, theatre and the beach.
He is survived by his daughter Susan, wife of Richard Weiss of Lebanon, his sons Michael, husband of Betsy Garrett of Lebanon, Timothy, husband of Beth Garrett of Lebanon, Jonathan, husband of Mary Garrett of Annville, 9 grandchildren and sister Sally, wife of Jack Henry of Perry Co. He was preceded in death by brother Thomas Garrett.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a time of visitation with Jim's family on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., 890 Isabel Dr., Lebanon 17042. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held by his family.
