William J. "Bill" McMellen, Jr., 83, of Conestoga passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017 with his loving wife by his side. Born on June 8, 1933, he was the son of the late William J., Sr. and Marian Flick McMellen. He was the husband of Betty M. MacDonald with who he shared 63 years of marriage.

Bill graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He met Betty while in the service. After being discharged, he and Betty made their in Lancaster where Bill worked for the Lancaster City Police Department. He worked as a Lab Technician for Alcoa, when he retired from. After retirement, they moved to Sebring, FL, moving back to Conestoga when Bill's health began to decline.

Besides his wife, Betty, Bill is survived by his daughters, Keli M., wife of Carl Garthwaite of Columbia, SC, Kim M. Richardson of Conestoga and Koleen M. Weber of Conestoga; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Klugh.

In keeping with Bill's wishes, all services will be private.
