Thelma M. Swanger, 87, Jonestown, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Eugene L. "Jim" Swanger. Thelma was born in Oxford on January 20, 1930, daughter of the late Charles and Anna Overbay Raines.
She was a former home care provider. Thelma was a member of Jonestown Zion Lutheran Church. She was a former home care provider. Thelma enjoyed dancing, music, baking, cooking and the mountains.
Thelma is survived by children Linda Wolford of Lebanon, Gary C. husband of Sandra Swanger of Jonestown, Judy, wife of Bruce Mindy of Robesonia, Debra, wife of Dr. Michael Smith of Quentin, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters Melvene, wife of Ronald Geesey of Red Lion and Jean, wife of William Kurtz of Stewartstown. She was preceded in death by son Eugene C. Swanger, sisters Juanita Krouse, Hazel Gibbs, Ruby Ford and Glenda Mitzell.
Private family services will be held with interment in Jonestown Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
For those who wish to attend, a "Celebration of Life" will be held on Sunday, June 25th at 4:30 PM. at the Rev. Greg Smith Memorial Outdoor Chapel, United Church of Christ, 11 Main St., Quentin, officiated by Rev. Jacquelyn Lingelbach. Seating is available or you are welcome to bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather the service will be held in the church sanctuary. In place of flowers you are welcome to make memorial donations in Thelma's memory to Wellspan GSH Hospice, 202 Hathaway Park, Lebanon, PA 17042 or Quentin United Church of Christ, P.O.
