Stephen C. Shirk, 60, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of LaVerne Schnoke Shirk, to whom he was married for 20 years. Steve was born in Lebanon on March 29, 1957, son of the late Charles and Joanne Wagner Shirk.
He was an Army Veteran. Steve was employed as Grounds and Maintenance Manager of Hershey Park Camping Resort. He had driven truck for many years. He and his wife LaVerne traveled the nation working as Work Campers. He was a member of Rocherty United Methodist Church, where he was in charge of building and grounds care. He was a former member of Fredericksburg and Bunker Hill Fire Companies. Steve enjoyed camping, travel and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, LaVerne, Steve is survived by a son Benjamin, husband of Morgan Shirk of Lebanon, stepson Darrell Adams, companion of Jen Snyder of Myerstown, 5 grandchildren, brothers Scott, husband of Amy Shirk of Fredericksburg and Charles, husband of Bonnie Shirk of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his sister Jan Brewer.
Family and friends are respectfully requested to attend Steve's funeral services on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., 890 Isabel Dr., Lebanon, PA 17042 (next to Quentin Circle). Friends will be received Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
