Rev. Dr. Russell Walter Streeper, 76, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Diana Irene Smith Streeper who he married May 9, 1959. Russ was born in Philadelphia on April 21, 1940, son of the late Russell Milton and Estell Deloris Leonowicz Streeper.
After serving 8 years in the United States Air Force, Russ entered Seminary at Eastern Baptist in Philadelphia. He was a retired minister of the Eastern PA Conference of the United Methodist Church. Russ served Johnson Memorial in (Mayfair) Philadelphia, Grace UM C (Olney) Philadelphia, Kochenderfer's UMC in Lebanon, Epworth UMC in Bethlehem and Trinity UMC in Denver. Russ was ordained a Deacon June 19, 1970, an Elder on June 22, 1973 and received his Doctor of Ministry May 3, 1984. He had served on the Board of Pensions for the church conference, was a member of several prayer groups, past president of the Olney Ministrium and received the 4 Chaplains Award in Philadelphia. He was president of his class at Eastern Baptist Seminary, Philadelphia.
In addition to his wife, Diana, Russ is survived by his daughter Joy, wife of Frank Scarbrough of Jonestown, grandchildren David R. Kern, Lauren G. Kern, Jason C. Kern all of Lebanon and sister Nancy, wife of Daniel Boone of Horsham. He was preceded in death by his sister Connie Streeper.
Family and friends are respectfully to attend Russ's funeral services from Kochenderfer UMC, 1105 Kochenderfer Rd, Lebanon, PA on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to time of service at the church. Interment will be made in Kochenderfer Cemetery.
