Richard C. "Dick" Sample, Sr., 84, of Conestoga passed away Tuesday morning, December 20, 2016 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Home after a brief illness. Born in New Providence Twp., Lancaster County, on April 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Elmer and Elsie Kruntz Sample. He was the husband of Betty J. Fitzkee who he married in December of 1950.

Dick retired as road foreman for Penn Dot after 35 years of service. After retirement he drove and made deliveries for Leakway Doors of Conestoga. He enjoyed attending auction sales.

In addition to his wife, Betty with who he shared 66 years of marriage with, Dick is survived by his grandson, Derrin M., husband of Sarah Sample of Landisville and Granddaughter, Jami Sprecher of Montana and 7 great grandchildren, Ethan Sample, Josiah Sample, Brady Sample, Skyla Taglieri, Ariel Sprecher, Isaiah Sprecher and Noah Sprecher.
Dick was preceded in death by his son, Richard "Dicky" C., Jr. in 2014 and his brother, Harold Sample and sisters, Ruth Lefever, Erma Lefever, and Helen Hart.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dick's funeral services on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 3PM with Pastor Walt Unterberger officiating at the Colemanville United Methodist Cemetery, 210 Colemanville Church Road, Conestoga, PA.
