Michael T. DeMaio, 83, of Lebanon formerly of Sinking Spring passed away Sunday morning, May 15, 2016 at Cornwall Manor. Born on July 12, 1932 in Raritan, NJ, Mike was the son of the late Xavier B. and Dora Esola DeMaio. He was the husband of Rose Marie C. Terraciano, who he married on May 29, 1955.
Mike graduated from Middlesex Vocational Technical School in New Jersey. Mike enjoyed boxing in his youth. He served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 with the rank of Corporal. He was employed as a senior electrician with Ortho Diagnostics in Raritan, NJ a division of Johnson and Johnson. He was proud to be Fire Chief at Ortho Diagnostics for 2 years. He retired after 25 years of employment in 1994.
Mike was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, Sinking Spring and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Annville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, #8726, Sinking Spring. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and golfing. He enjoyed listening to Mario Lanza.
Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Marie along with his children, Michael J., husband of Kelly DeMaio of Lebanon, Joseph R., husband of Kathleen DeMaio of Bethlehem, Donna Marie, wife of James Conkey of Birdsboro and Dr. Raymond, husband of Dr. Laura DeMaio of Lebanon. He will be truly missed by his grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Ava and Raymond DeMaio; Laura Stauffer and Jennifer DeMaio; Kaleena and Kelli Conkey and Zachary and Alexa DeMaio. He is also survived by his brother, Robert DeMaio and sister, Marie Blasse, both of Seminole, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Raymond DeMaio.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to Mike's Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 12:30PM from the St. Paul the Apostle Church, 125 S. Spruce St., Annville. Friends will be received on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from the Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 890 Isabel Drive (next to Quentin Circle), Lebanon from 3 to 5PM and also at the church on Monday from 11:30-12:30PM. Interment will be held in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Please omit flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in Mike's memory to Wounded Warriors at or to the Tommy Foundation for Autism, 1390 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603.
