Matthew B. Brodbeck, 19, of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday morning, May 10, 2017. Born on December 16, 1997 in Lancaster, Matt was the son of Richard J. "Rick" Brodbeck, Jr. and Shelby D. Mylin Brodbeck.
Matt had attended Hempfield High School and was currently employed by Wal-Mart on the Fruitville Pike and had previously worked at Arby's in Centerville. Matt had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He liked doing magic, especially card tricks and video gaming. He loved his dog Layla.
Matt was a sweet soul, very loving and worried about everyone. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Rick and Shelby; his sister, Mary and half sister, Jordynn Brodbeck with who he was the protective "big brother"; maternal grandparents, Stephen J. and Beverly Cooper of Lancaster and paternal grandparents, Richard J., Sr. and Connie Brodbeck of Lancaster. He will be missed by his aunts, Stephanie J., wife of Donald Watson and Elizabeth A., wife of William Mowery, of Lancaster and Barbara Ann wife of William Giblin of Mount Joy; cousins, Madelyn, Nathan, Andrew, Owen, Austin, Errik, Hans, and Kaitlin and numerous friends.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Matt's funeral services on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 7PM from the Melanie B. Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, The Gundel Chapel, 3225 Main Street, Conestoga, PA with Rev. Dr. Roger A. Bucy officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 7PM. Please omit flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in Matt's memory to Manos House, 1290 Prospect Road, Columbia, PA 17512.
