Marshall L. Beers, 90, of Woodland Estates, Lebanon, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 of natural causes at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Phyllis Artelt Beers, who passed away July 25, 2000. Marshall was born in Dayton, PA on January 31, 1928, son of the late Harry L. and Ida A. Marshall Beers.
He attended Penn State University and graduated from Allegheny Technical Institute of Pittsburgh. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, being awarded several medals including the Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart medal for wounds received in combat.
Marshall retired in 1995 as Chief Quality Engineer for General Physics Corporation. Prior employment positions included; Shift Supervisor at TMI and engineering consultant to many nuclear power facilities throughout the USA. He was a life-long Presbyterian with the last 47 years at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church of Lebanon, where he had served as Trustee and Elder. He was a member of the American Legion, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantrymen's Association and the American Society for Quality Control.
Marshall is survived by his daughter Rhonda Wynne, wife of Gary Guiles of Boise, ID, stepdaughters Diane Reamer Evans of Toledo, OH, Leslie, wife of Michael Shaak of Lebanon, Janell, wife of William Reich of Shaming, NJ, April Evans of Phoenixville, 2 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and special friend Joy Eubanks of Lebanon.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Lebanon. Interment will be made at Glade Run Cemetery, Dayton, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Marshall's memory to the Purple Heart Foundation, P.O. Box 49, Allandale, VA 22003.
