LaVon Arms, 83, of Gladwyne, formerly of Devon, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John R. "Jack" Arms. LaVon was born in Lincolnville, KS on December 2, 1933, daughter of the late William C. and Gladys Barger Gehrke.
She was a graduate of Colorado College. LaVon was a member of Wayne Presbyterian Church and an active member of numerous civic and social organizations. LaVon enjoyed skiing, cooking, gardening, tennis, sailing and loved to entertain family and friends in her home and boat.
LaVon is survived by devoted daughters, Julie P., wife of Paul Marshall of Malvern, Jill P., wife of Jacques Tompkins, East Falmouth, MA, her adored grandchildren Summer and Luke Tompkins of East Falmouth, MA and her brother William A., husband of Jill Gehrke of Pheonix, AZ. She was preceded in death by sister Anita Galvin.
A celebration of LaVon's life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM from Wayne Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Lancaster Ave., Wayne, followed by a luncheon at the Merion Cricket Club where family and friends will be received. Interment will be made in Deerfield, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in LaVon's memory may be made to her church or Cornerstone Christian Academy, P.O. Box 5520, Philadelphia, PA 19143 or Baker Industries, 184 Pennsylvania Ave, Malvern, PA 19365.
