Janet L. McGovern, 79, of Mountville formerly of Dillsburg passed away on Sunday morning, June 11, 2017 with her daughter, Lori by her side at the Gardens of Lititz after a lengthy illness. Born in Dillsburg, PA on January 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Earl Pencil and Sarah Minnie Krall Moose. She was the wife of Lloyd R. McGovern who passed away on November 15, 2003, who she loved dearly.
Janet worked as a waitress for Wolfe's Diner and had her own childcare business in her home for over 20 years. She was known as Grandma to many. Janet was a thrift store and yard sale shopper, and Dollar Tree was her favorite store. She loved to go camping and enjoyed going to Wildwood, NJ to the beach. She always had a dog or two or three and is survived by her Italian Greyhound, Taz.
Janet is survived by her son, David C.,husband of Tina Farence of Halifax, daughters, Linda K., wife of Wayne Smith of Lock Haven, Brenda F., wife of John Beyer of Dover and Lori A. Secord of Lititz. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer, Brandi, Noah, Michael, Jessica, Jonathan, Brandon, Ryan and Dylan; along with several great grandchildren. Janet is survived by her brother, Kenneth E., husband of Renee Moose of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded by death by her brother, Earl Moose.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Janet's funeral services on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 2:30PM from the Christ Lutheran Church Filey's, 15 S. Fileys Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019. Friends will be received at the church from 1:30 to 2:30PM. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery. Please omit flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in Janet's memory to The Salvation Army Thrift Store, 1244 Manheim Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
