Helen M. Davenport, 89, of Manor Twp., passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy after a 3 month illness. Born in Pittston, PA she was the daughter of the late James P. and Helen Corcoran Wall. She was the beloved wife of William A. Davenport who preceded her in death on June 14, 1993.
Helen graduated in 1947 from Jenkins Twp. High School, Sebastopol, PA. She had worked for Bell Telephone in Harrisburg. After moving to Lancaster she had worked for RCA, Rea & Derick and eventually retired from Corestates Bank as a switchboard operator.
She was a member of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, Lancaster. She was very proud of her Irish Hertiage. After the passing of her husband, her son Tom became her "Rock", they enjoyed bus trips together, attending Guys and Dolls and going to other events. She was a social member of the Mountville VFW.
Helen was a very loving and kind mother, who kept things basic and to the point. She will be dearly missed by her twin sons, Thomas W. Davenport of Lancaster and James W. Davenport of Stevens; daughters, Nan A. Davenport, Esq. and her husband Ronald Nagle of Harrisburg and Terri L. wife of John Wettig of Landisville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alyssa and Kelsey Wettig, Joshua Davenport, Amanda Milliron and her great grandson, Liam Milliron.
