Gilberto S. Vega, 65, of Lancaster passed away Friday evening, September 22, 2017, at Hershey Medical Center. Born on September 12, 1952, Gilberto grew up in San José, Costa Rica to the late Gilberto Sequeira Gómez and Flora Vega Gamboa. He was the husband of Elaine M. Goodhart Vega, whom he married on June 24, 1987.

Gilberto was a high school graduate and attended the University of Costa Rica. As a young man, he served as a mixologist on a few different Cruise Lines. After marrying Elaine and moving to Lancaster, he worked for several years for Blue Ball National Bank in computer operations. Gilberto then worked as a manager for cleaning service companies, FBG, Inc. in New Holland and GCA Services Group, Inc. in York.

Gilberto enjoyed masterminding anything that dealt with technology or a new gadget. Since the majority of his work career was on afternoon shift, he became a fan of daytime court T.V. His favorite pastime was sitting on his back porch near his fire pit enjoying a cold American beer.

His wife, Elaine, and his sons were his pure enjoyment and he loved them dearly. He will be missed by them greatly. Gilberto and Elaine's sons are Gilberto T. of Philadelphia, Justin D. of Baltimore, and Ryan M. of Lancaster. He is also survived by his brothers, Jorge and Erick Sequeira Vega and sister, Heidy Sequeira Vega, all of Costa Rica.
