Betty L. Kauffman, 91, raised in Pequea and formerly of Silver Spring, and Manheim passed away Sunday morning, October 23, 2016 at Lancashire Hall where she had resided. Born in Pequea, PA on May 22, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Beck Lungren. She was the wife of J. Edward Kauffman who passed away on May 21, 1996 and James D. Althouse who passed away October 21, 1951
Betty was a lifetime member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, Pequea. She had worked for several years as a baker for the former Dempsey's Restaurant on Columbia Avenue. Betty enjoyed baking, doing puzzles and crocheting.
Betty is survived by her sons, Donald E., husband of Linda Kauffman of Pequea, Robert L., husband of Billie Marie Althouse of Holtwood and Richard L., Sr., husband of Millie Kauffman of Manheim; a daughter, Joyce Wood of Drumore; grandsons, James, Jr., Rick, Jr., Raymond, Jr., Rodney, Keith and Larry, Jr.; granddaughters, Jessica, Renee, Amy, Shenna, Ramona, Lisa and Kimberly; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters. Betty is survived by her sister, Mary Lungren Siegrist of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marian E. Hertz; sons, James D. Althouse, Jr. and Paul T. Althouse and great grandson, Dakota Smith.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Betty's funeral service on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11AM from the Mt. Nebo UM Church, 673 Martic Heights Drive, Pequea, PA with Pastor Chandler Evans officiating. Family will be received at the church from 10 to 11AM on Saturday. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery. Please omit flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in Betty's memory to Mt. Nebo UM Church.
