Beatriz "Betty" Cortina-Yace, 80 of East Petersburg passed away Thursday afternoon at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy with her family by her side. Born on July 29, 1937 in Mayaguez, PR, she was the daughter of the late Rafael Cortina and Nina Yace. Betty moved to Lancaster on December 21, 2004.

She retired from Tyson Foods in New Holland. She loved watching kids and shopping. She was a very independent woman. She was soft around her family but was very strong willed. Her grandkids and great grandkids meant the world to her. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Betty is survived by her sons, Frank Garcia of Puerto Rico and Antonio Garcia of Lancaster; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and her siblings, Maggie, Rafael, Marta, and Roberto Cortina. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Milagros and Monserrate Cortina and her brother, Eugenio Cortina.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Betty's funeral service on Sunday evening, November 12, 2017 at 7PM from the Melanie B. Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 3225 Main Street, Conestoga, PA. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 7PM.
