Condolence & Memory Journal

It's been 47 years since I last saw the inside of #4 mine. I miss that place but most of all, the guys I got to work with there. And I miss seeing Mel and the rest of the gang at the annual Miner Reunion picnics. We are all fortunate to have the memories of those experiences and Mel Lipensky was one of the guys who made it all possible. Rest in peace buddy.

Mel gave me a summer job in 1976, 77, 78 and '79 which enabled me to pay my way through college back then. I had much respect for the man and enjoyed those summers working at LBS.
What a great career he had.
My condolences to the family.

In the limited time I got to spend around Mel while working in Cornwall #4 mine, I always found him to be a true gentleman, a straight shooter and a fair and honest man. Rest in peace buddy.
