William R. Basehore, 81, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, November 2, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Lebanon on January 27, 1936, son of the late Lee A. and June M. Fox Basehore. William was employed for 10 years at the former Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown and retired as a Supply Systems Analyst in 1991 from the Department of Defense, US Army Security Assistance Command, New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, a 1953 graduate of Lebanon High School, Mt. Olivet Lodge #704 F&AM Lebanon, Harrisburg Consistory A.A.S.R., Quittapahilla Forest #25 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, member and past president of Quitty Woods, Friendship Fire Co, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and local Lebanon Valley Chapter 458.
Surviving are his daughter, Debra D'Aurelio and her companion Gerald Layser of Annville, grandchildren, Owen, husband of Morgan Smith, Rebecca, wife of Brandon Hess, Kristen D'Aurelio, Tyler Talhelm and his dog Cricket. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nancy A. Schnoke Basehore; daughters, Sherri Lynn Basehore and Lori A. Smith; brothers, John L. and Frederick A. Basehore.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend William's funeral services on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM from Salem Lutheran Church, 119 N. 8th Street, Lebanon, PA. A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., 890 Isabel Dr., Lebanon, PA and from 10:30 AM to time of service Thursday at the church. A Masonic Service by Mt. Olivet Lodge #704 F&AM will be held Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park.

William will always hold such special place in my heart. I will cherish our talks we had and the stories he told. He was so easy to care for. My deepest condolences to his family, Cricket included. He will most certainly be missed.

We were longtime friend from school. We worked on the Reunion Committee each year and then for the Class Luncheons. He always kept good records of our classmates.
